le boboChambres d'Hôtes & Gîte
Our boutique guest house is set in the heart of the bustling village of Bize Minervois surrounded by vines and a stone’s throw from the Mediterranean in the beautiful ‘real’ South of France.
Welcome to Le Bobo
Susan and I found Le Bobo whilst looking for a holiday home in the lovely Languedoc in 2014. During our search we decided to give up our jobs in Scotland, sell our family home and move to France permanently. Still too young and definitely not rich enough to retire, we thought we’d find ourselves a B&B. What we found was the perfect home in the perfect village and we continue to run our Chambres D’hotes the way we originally envisaged it – a combination of what we loved about all the great places we stayed all over Europe as guests. We reckon if we would love to stay at Le Bobo for a few nights, then you might too.

About Le Bobo
The interior reflects its name, meaning the ‘Bourgeois and Bohemian’.
Le Bobo, a name originating with the ‘hipsters’ of Paris in the late 1960’s to reflect their Bohemian and bourgeois lifestyle, is a large ‘Maison de Maitre’ built using the rampart wall of the ancient village as a backdrop sometime in the 18th Century. The three storey house features a wide entrance hall, huge rooms and a broad stairway. Constructed from the stones taken from the nearby River Cesse with some walls over a metre thick, the house remains cool in the hot summers of the south. The addition of the ceiling fans in each of the four bedrooms keep them nicely airy. Much of the floor tiling is original and art from talented local artist David Abse and Scottish artist Gwen Black adorn the walls throughout.
This elegant double room with feature marble fireplace, Louis style bed and roll-top slipper bath is situated on the first floor of the property and is painted in rich colours to compliment the original tomette floor tiles
The bath sits inside a large framed alcove with wash basin and antique mirror, behind a Moroccan modesty screen separate from the tiled en-suite shower room and toilet.
This is our only family room and can sleep up to 4 people in a double and two single beds. Decorated in cool colours it’s reminiscent of the seaside and has a stylish tiled en-suite bathroom with rain shower
The room features a ceiling fan, tomette tiled flooring and working shutters.
Decorated in the style of the ancient silk road travellers, this room is light and airy and boasts an enormous en-suite with rain shower and original patterned floor tiles. The French painted furniture is complemented by the rich colours of Old Persia and intricately carved wooden plaques on the walls
This second floor double room is stylishly decorated with a Bohéme feel, subtle colours and original tomette tiled floor. It features a huge walk-in rain shower and is cooled by a ceiling fan and boasts an antique wardrobe and Tunisian style filigree dressing table
